One of the best ways to get involved in the climate movement is to learn more about the opportunities available in your community. We encourage you to attend a Growing Climate Solutions event, or one hosted by our network of community partners, to help Southwest Florida get on a “path to positive” future.
Please contact our Regional Director, Dr. Ana Puszkin-Chevlin, to submit an event for our calendar.

SWFL Climate Ambassador Training Program
Growing Climate Solutions: Path to Positive Southwest Florida, through their partner ecoAmerica, is excited to offer a NEW Climate Ambassador Program: Harnessing the Power of Social Media focusing on the use of social media and electronic communications to advance climate awareness and engage policymakers. It includes all the information of ecoAmerica’s climate ambassador training, but with a new twist on electronic communication rather than public speaking!
The Harnessing the Power of Social Media, SWFL Climate Ambassador training is for community leaders and individuals who want to actively promote climate solutions — but without in-person contact to support social distancing measures. Through this training, you will have access to and contribute to an electronic repository of climate communication tools to help you craft and post impactful messages and information on climate challenges and solutions. Click here for more detailed information
Part I – May 27th 3:00-4:30 pm
- Climate science concepts
- The impacts of climate change on health, the built and natural environment and the economy
- Actions you and local government can take toward mitigation and resilience
- General principles of persuasive and effective climate communications
Upon finishing the training, Path to Positive Communities will issue you a Certificate of Completion and you will agree to use your new skills to promote positive climate communications on your social media platforms, and to reach out to friends, family member, businesses and policymakers to show your support for climate action. View the Pledge Commitment.
No previous climate knowledge is required. However, a Facebook account and basic knowledge of posting, uploading and responding are recommended. Ideally, participants should be able to view the webinar on their computer or tablet, and have a second web-enabled device, like a smartphone or tablet handy for practicing the skills.
